A love in verse

Long-Ago-Afternoons

This is my favourite kind of weather

Rumbling, thundering, broody sky.

The rain and lightning raging together

Whilst it’s still warm like mid-July

Cosy as a wartime shelter

From the storm all safe within

As wind and thunder helter-skelter

“Free from sorrow, free from sin”

There’s no demand on me: “Get out,

Enjoy yourself, you stay-at-home!”

I love indoors, I am devout

In domesticity, so why roam?

Nibbling biscuits, sipping tea,

Smoking an E-cigarette

And reading some great book- for me

Almost the best life’s brought me yet

The very best though was when you

Did these things with me; afternoons

Snuggled together, listening to

The weather with its raging tunes

Oh, those long-ago afternoons!

My 3 Girls

They go, in sun and wind, past standing cars

I watch their backs whom I love so

Smart and striding upright and purposeful...

The Cedar Room

The hospital has the Cedar Room

Where visitors may go to rest

From watching the very sick...
